Lee Ann McCarley, Office Manager
Lee Ann grew up in the Garland area where she graduated from South Garland High School. Lee Ann went on to pursue a career in nursing and graduated from nursing school in 1981 as a Registered Nurse, which she continues to keep currently licensed. She has a wide variety of experience in the field of nursing. She worked for many years in the emergency room of several Dallas area hospitals. Later she became involved in home health and hospice care where she taught classes and later became a director of nurses.
In 1998, she left the field of active nursing and joined the medical policy team at Medicare's Dallas office of Trailblazer Health Enterprises. While at Medicare, she was responsible for researching the trial studies on new and proposed drugs from the various drug companies, pricing those drugs per Medicare guidelines and writing Medicare policies on drug coverage and coverage of new and proposed medical treatments. She left Medicare in 2002 to work in the office for Dr. McCarley. Currently, she is the Business/Financial Manager for the office and is responsible for seeing that the office maintains the highest standards in its emergency treatment plans.
When she is not at the office, you can find her traveling with Dr. McCarley, working in the yard or on the tractor at their home, ToothAchers Ranch, which she calls "the farm." There, she takes care of their dogs, cats, horses and cows that all number in the double digits. Her favorite horse and the one she rides is named Sable, a Peruvian Paso that she rescued from near starvation and now prides herself in. Lee Ann dreams of the day when she and Dr. McCarley can finally retire and just lounge on the beach in a tropical location, but for now, with Dr. McCarley devoted to his career, Lee Ann devotes her time to assisting him with business related matters regarding the practice.
She shares five children with Dr. McCarley, 2 girls and 3 boys, and 4 grandchildren, 2 boys and 2 girls. "It looks like this city born girl has certainly become a farm girl and I love it!" she said.
Kristi Kendall, Dental Assistant
A native born and proud Texan, Kristi is the oldest daughter of Dr. McCarley and Lee Ann and is a 1995 graduate of Mesquite High School. She joined McCarley Dentistry in spring 2001 as a receptionist and worked her way up to being a certified dental assistant, working alongside Dr. McCarley. Kristi is fluent in American Sign Language and occasionally assists patients who are deaf with communication between the dentist or hygienist when they come to the office for treatment. At present she is our patient coordinator as well as being a dental assistant.
Kristi adds that personal touch to the office so all patients feel the comfortable atmosphere that sets Dr. McCarley's practice above the "norm." When Kristi is not working, she is a doting mother to 3 wonderful children, a handsome teenage boy and two little precious girls. She is a very involved parent in all of her children's endeavors, such as baseball, basketball, and cross country. She also coaches her daughters’ softball and basketball teams. During the school year she is constantly on the go with three different sports teams for her children. She enjoys spending time with her family, traveling and attending church. In her spare time she volunteers for the Habitat for Humanity and the Collin County Children’s Advocacy Center in McKinney. She and her family live in Anna, where her three children wear the proud purple colors of the Anna Coyotes when playing sports.
Sophie Armstrong, CDA, RDA Assistant
Sophie joined the team in 2003 after graduating at the top of her class at Grayson County College in 2002 where she received the Dental Assisting Achievement Award. Since the time she graduated she has continued to build on her education by completing courses to become certified with her radiological certification, nitrous oxide sedation monitoring certification, certified dental assistant and most recently took her test and became a Registered Dental Assistant. These credentials help assure our patients that she is prepared to assist competently in providing quality dental care. Sophie stays current on all the current techniques in dental assisting by attending numerous continuing education classes during the year. Sophie takes active interest in all of her patients and helps alleviate any fears they may have.
Sophie was married in March 2009 to Jack Armstrong in a medieval themed wedding complete with knights and fairies which was held at a castle in Oklahoma. Sophie and Jack have 3 sons with 3 years between each of them. Sophie is always full of stories about "the Boys." When not at work and not chasing after the boys, Sophie, Jack, and their boys love to travel and she stays busy scrapbooking, listening to music, watching movies and sometimes just "curling up with a good book."
Pauline Fields, RDH
Pauline came to join the team in 2006 after moving to the area from Monroe, LA. She has been a registered Hygienist for more than 25 years. Pauline continues to broaden her knowledge base through continuing education classes where she stays abreast of the most up to date techniques in dental hygiene. She has taken advanced courses in periodontal disease, oral care detection, geriatrics and nutrition. Through her gentle touch and friendly personality she gets to know her patients and establishes a relationship with them. She gives excellent hygiene education to her patients and is invaluable to Dr. McCarley in detecting early stages of gum disease and decay during the regular 6 month cleaning exams.
Pauline is married and has one son who is active in school activities and plays football for McKinney North. When not at work here, you can find Pauline cheering on her son's football team or at the NASCAR races or on a quiet day, just enjoying being at home.
Dawn Turner, RDH
Dawn joined the team in August 2007 after moving from Roanoke, TX. She has been a Registered Hygienist for 25 years, working in family and pediatric oriented dental offices. She continues to expand her knowledge by participating in continuing education classes where she received the most current information from some of the nation’s top sources. Building relationships with patients is very important to Dawn as she establishes a trust between her patients and herself. Trust is a key factor in patient education and the steps taken to improve oral health. Dawn uses hands-on instruction as well as video through the Casey System to demonstrate proper home care techniques. She is a valued team member and you can always count on a friendly smile.
Dawn was born and raised in Omaha, Nebraska. She attended the University of Nebraska at Lincoln for 3 years and graduated in 1985 from Central Community College in Hastings, NE with her Associates in Dental Hygiene. She has been married for 25 years to her high school sweetheart, Randy. They have two teen sons and a cat, Joey, and a dog named Ella. Her free time consists of baseball, Tae Kwon Do, and running her boys to their practices and games here and there. Dawn and her husband are very involved in their church where her husband is the Instrumental Director. Her house is always filled with music as her 2 boys are following in their father’s footsteps by playing drums, guitar, bass guitar, or singing. Dawn loves to travel when she can, but mostly she loves to spend time with her family watching movies or sitting around the dinner table catching up with her family.
Vickie Lawrence, Treatment Coordinator
Vickie is a longtime resident of McKinney. Having grown up here, gone to school here and made this her home she is familiar with how McKinney has changed over the years. Vickie can't walk down the local streets without someone shouting out to her a "hello" or "how's it going."
Vickie joined the staff of McCarley Restorative & Cosmetic Family Dentistry in 2007 as the Treatment Coordinator. She has been a Dental Assistant for more than 25 years in this area and we feel very fortunate that she decided to join our team. She is a wealth of knowledge and here she is responsible for scheduling the treatment for the dentist and takes care of all financial arrangements for the patient's treatment plan. She is very familiar with a multitude of financial arrangement plans and will work with each patient to find that special arrangement that is suited just for you. She truly goes out of her way in her job.
Vickie is married and has 1 daughter and 1 son. She is a doting grandmother to Isabellah, her first grandchild who was born in January 2009 just a week after her own birthday. She loves traveling with Van, her husband, and is an active horsewoman and takes part in frequent trails rides. She and her husband have a farm in Cisco that they frequent often. Around the office here she is known as "The Cisco Kid."
Rebecca Layton, Records and Marketing Coordinator
Rebecca is a Great Smoky Mountains of Tennessee girl at heart. She was born and raised in the Knoxville, Tennessee area and attended Lenoir-Rhyne College in Hickory, North Carolina, majoring in deaf education. She has lived in several different places including the Great Plains of Kansas, The Green Mountains of Vermont, the Piedmont of South Carolina, and now the Lone Star State of Texas. She has worked with deaf children for the past decade in several different school or residential settings and loves working with people.
Rebecca came to the team in January of 2008, bringing with her excellent organization skills. She helped to overhaul the file system, recruit new patients, and reconnect with old patients who hadn't seen the dentist in a while. She is also responsible for updating the McCarley website, the internal marketing which consists of taking patient before & after treatment photos among others, and is a backup Dental Assistant. When she is not at work, you can find her traveling, camping, riding roller coasters, at the dog park with her dogs Boo (a Labrador) and Lily (a Great Pyrenees and Lab mix), or just relaxing at home cooking or watching a good movie. Rebecca was married in November 2008 to Wesley Layton on top of a mountain in the Great Smoky Mountains and had the reception outdoors under a brilliant sun and blue skies with the fall foliage essentially bursting with stunning colors ranging from crimson red to Tennessee Volunteer orange to harvest gold!
